I was very happy to receive an email from Interior Design Magazine this morning focusing some of the amazing architecture of my, and LV's, home town - good old Buffalo NY.
The article, written by Annie Block, briefly explores the Frank Lloyd Wright Martin House (one of his best in my opinion), Adler and Sullivan’s Guaranty Building, and H.H. Richarson's Buffalo State Hospital. The Richardson complex has a very close place to my heart as I used to live directly across the street from it, and I may or may not have had the pleasure of exploring 2 or 3 times (shhhhhh).
Also featured are works by Toshiko Mori and Eliel & Eero Saarinen to name a few. The article also points out the fact that - surprising to some, I would imagine - Buffalo is the only city to have buildings by Richardson, Sullivan and Wright, planning and landscape design by Frederick Law Olmsted, and, interestingly, has one of the highest concentrations of wind farms in an urban area in the USA.
This good read about the Queen City can be found here on Interior Designs website.

LV Wood Floors has rescued hundreds of miles of old horse fencing from the dumptster! The beautiful and naturally aged old horse fencing was being replaced with new wood fencing. This is a testamony to the sustainability of wood. Longevity is an important element of sustainability. This material spent the first 50+ years of its life in service as horse fencing, and now finds itself reclaimed and repurposed as flooring which could last another 50 years! Now that’s sustainability. These new goodies are available in 4 standard colors that are finished with an eco-friendly poly or oil and are all ON SALE through the end of March! Look for them soon in our LV Green gallery or click here to request a sample.

The NY Times - whether they knew it or not - featured an LV Wood Floors project in their recent article on the 4 floor clock tower apartment being offered for sale in D.U.M.B.O. for $25M! The featured floor is 6" wide, long length Rift Sawn White Oak, with a gorgeous all natural oil finish, furnished by LV Wood Floors and installed & finished by our good friend Walter Lourie. The project also included a massive stair case with extra thick floating Rift Oak stair treads.
Heres a link to the NY Times slide show.

WOW today I received samples from one of our mills of a 10" wide Antique Oak that are simply gorgeous. Every board is full of character - big knots, nail holes, saw blade marks and every kind of wear and tear years of exposure to the elements can add to a piece of wood. Check them out in our RECLAIMED section.
